Well, folks... that's what happens when it's Sunday and I don't feel
like doing "real" work... so here's the chords for "Light Don't Shine"
written by the great Steve van Zandt for Southside Johnny & the Asbury
Jukes during their heyday...
As always, I'd love to hear comments or corrections (and if anybody
has other SSJ or Little Steven crd's or tabs, those would be greatly
appreciated as well...) -- enough rambling, let's start...

Standard tuning.

Intro:

------2--0--2--3--2--0----2---3--------------------------------------
-----3------------------------0---2----------------------------------
----2-------------------------0---2----------------------------------
---0--------------------------0---2----------------------------------
------------------------------2---0----------------------------------
------------------------------3--------------------------------------

(repeat)

(so, just arpeggiate the open D chord at the beginning, then play that
simple melody followed by the G and A chords -- not sure if these are
the fingerings that are used, but anyway...)

I've just included the chords for the rest of the song. There's
more being played by the guitars, but I guess it's just picking
out some chord notes, so I didn't bother putting it in tab.

This is quite an easy song, however what I heard may still be wrong,
so just use it as a guideline :)

My weird Dsus4/E by the way is something like xx2233 ...

    Bm
The streets are dark tonight
            D
The city is quiet now
     Bm
It's good to be away
                  G
Those people they talk too loud

         Em A
It's too early to go home
        F#m Bm A
This is no time to be alone

G D A (Dsus4/E)
Something inside died today
G D A (Dsus4/E)
Our last chance just slipped away
G D A Bm
Blues this morning came to stay
        G D A
There's nothing left to say

     D
It's over now, my friend
     G D
It's over now, my friend
    Bm
The child's dreams been swept away
     G Em
What fools we must have been
    G A
For good or worse we've lost forever
Bm Em
What we were before
     G A D
It's over -- the light don't shine no more

(intro...)

same chords for 2nd verse...

They came to shake my hand
I don't want them to touch me now
They said 'Congratulations' but it's too late now
Where were they when I called
How could they forget it all

Didn't you get what you need?
The fight was lost, wasn't meant to be
It isn't as hard for you to leave
There's no easy way for me

It's over now, my friend
It's over now, my friend
The child's dreams been swept away
What fools we must have been
For good or worse we've lost forever
What we were before
     G A Bm A G
It's over -- the light don't shine no more
     G A D
It's over -- the light don't shine no more

no more...

it just don't shine no more... etc. etc..

(repeat intro till fade)

... and that's it. Enjoy y'all!
